4&5-3B PISKEL ART - MAKE YOUR OWN ANIMATED SPRITE

MONDAY - BUILD A CHARIOT
I can build a tool out of knex.

1. Build the picture below.

2. Build a chariot for the Sphero Robot out of Knex. The horse is the Sphero+, your passenger must stay in the chariot and not fall out. You cannot attach it or trap your passenger in any way. Your chariot must have 2 wheels and be pulled by the horse.

Chariot definition: a two-wheeled horse-drawn battle car of ancient times used also in processions and races.

 Below are just some examples to help you get started. You will race around an oval track and there might be some bumping into other chariots, so make it sturdy and passenger safe. Your passenger will be a small cylinder, like the green one in the picture below.

3. When your chariot is ready you can do some test runs as long as the tablets and Sphero are charged enough. Learn how to drive the Sphero and use the app.

If not, do some tests without it. Get it race ready for tomorrow. Store it on the shelf behind my desk for safe keeping. Clean up your work area.

4. If you finished early, work on some more Piskel animated gifs.

TUESDAY- PISKEL WEBSITE
​I can use and troubleshoot a new website.
​

1. Solve the puzzle below.

​2. What is pixel art? 

3.  You will create a 32x32 animated image or sprite.  

Watch the tutorial to get started with the program, Piskel. You can set your screen to view the tutorial and the program at the same time. Follow along with the video, stop, pause, rewind as much as you need throughout the video.

Once you understand what to do, feel free to make your own picture appropriate for school and my website (no weapons, no blood or violence please). I will have some sample holiday pictures if you need some ideas or look below at an entire scene that is animated.

​4. If you are finished, share your animated gif with the teacher by exporting the image and raise your hand to get a flash drive. If you still need to work on it tomorrow, you will save it as .piskel.

WEDNESDAY - CHARIOT RACES

I can use a tablet to make my chariot move.

1. How to connect the SPHERO SPRK+ to the tablet. Watch the entire video so you will know what to do later.

2. You may have 10 minutes of building time. If you are ready to test yours out, you may ask for a Spero and a tablet to try it.

3. Small Gym. You will race around the cones for 3 laps. If you are not racing, you are to be sitting and watching the other races. We will hand off the Sphero and Tablets to the next drivers. If your driver falls off during the race you must stop touching your tablet and set it down.  This is just for a fun activity, be respectful of others.

4. Everyone will help bring our stuff back to the classroom when we are finished. Return the tablets and Sphero back to their locations in the classroom. Your chariots will go into the big table for recycling. 

THURSDAY - FIX AND TEST CHARIOT

I can build a better chariot.

1. Find the words on the puzzle below.

2. Work on your chariot, only with permission. When you are not working on it, then please create some animated gifs in piskel.

FRIDAY - CHARIOT RACES

1. Pick up your journal. Open to the next clean page. Fill in the ASK, IMAGINE and PLAN sections.

2. We will go to the small gym for racing. This is just for fun. Please show good sportsmanship and respect to everyone.

3.  One of you take your chariot apart, please. If we have time, find your photos from the last rotation and tape them into your journal on the correct page, please. Fill in any blank sections.
