I can make a plan and sketch with my group.
I can make a plan and sketch with my group.
1. Do lesson 15 today.
2. What is a chariot? What do they look like? What were they for? Take turns reading aloud the information on the webpage to learn more about chariots. Click here.
3. Watch this animated chariot race.
4. Tomorrow you will use Knex to build a chariot that will be pulled by a Spero robot. Today you need to break into groups and each group come up with their own design. You will be "charged" for the pieces of K'nex you use so the fewer parts the better, but it needs to work and carry a small passenger that will not fall off your chariot when racing.
5. In your groups today, sketch a picture of what your chariot will look like. How will you keep the Sphero in control of the chariot? Your foam cylinder is your passenger and must stay on the chariot, but cannot be attached.
6. Turn in your sketch when completed. You may do activities on my webpage when finished. Please turn off all computers and lights before leaving.
TUESDAY - CHARIOT CHALLENGE
I can build a chariot for the sphero.
1. Do lesson 16 today.
2. Link to Chariot Challenge
Remember: The rider must not fall off, but cannot be secured by anything. The horse or sphero, cannot get separated from your chariot. Bumping may occur, so build it strong enough to withstand any collisions.
You may use a Sphero for estimating your harness or whatever is going to hold it in place.

WEDNESDAY - CALCULATING COST
I can use a spreadsheet for math.
1. Build the Puzzle
2. Knex Pricing Sheets are below. You will use your Google account to find the price of your chariot. Place your chariot in a location that all of your team can see it. Each of you will calculate the price of your chariot and see if you all come up with the same number.
Use this spreadsheet to calculate the total price of your chariot. You will need to be logged into Google to be able to make a copy and use this spreadsheet.
Now I want you to increase the price of your chariot by 40%. If you are the builder and you want to sell these, you need to mark up the price so you can make money. What would be your final price?
How does the number you got, compare with what your teammates got?

2. Make sure you have calculated your chariot price. Practiced driving your chariot. We will go into the gym to race. When you are not the driver, you are to sit down and watch the others race. The race will consist of completing 3 laps with your rider still on board.
We will race as many times, but we are looking to see which chariot is the best for racing and who is the best driver.
