1. With your table partner, you will use the Spike Essential robots today. You will begin by building the elephant robot. Click to open the file below.

2. Now you will open the spike essentials program. Watch the video to learn how.
3. We will need to charge all the hubs. Take your hub and white cord to the charging station and plug it in.

TUESDAY - SPIKE ESSENTIAL VEHICLE
I can build a small car to program.
1. Typing Club
2. Get your journals. Follow along and fill out the first sections for this challenge.
3. Follow the video to build a simple car we can code to drive around the table.
4. Open the Spike Essentials program. Click on New Project. See if you can create code to make the car move around.
5. Clean up. Keep your car built. You can store it in the charging station. Be sure that the hub is turned off.
Log off the computers. Get lined up quietly. Stand on your numbers quietly, please.
WEDNESDAY - SOLVE THE MAZE
I can code my car to move around the table.
1. Get your Spike Car and continue to build or start coding.
2. Can you complete this challenge?
Drive the car through the maze without hitting any sides?
Please make a plan to do this in your journal. Follow along with the teacher to make your plan.
If you finished early, put your car and tote away.

THURSDAY - PLAN AND DESIGN
I can program my car to not hit any walls.
1. Did you program your car to move through the maze yet? If not, do that first. Make sure that I take some photos.
Once you are finished, please record in your journal how it turned out. Remember to use complete sentences and give details. Good or okay are not acceptable answers.
If you are struggling to complete the challenge, here is a piece of code that might help.
3. If your challenge is done and your journal has been completed, we can set up a more challenging maze, but here is the catch. You must write the code first and get 1 try. If you succeed, you can earn a crane token!
4. Plug in your car's hub today. They are probably letting low on charge.
5. Return your totes, cars, and log off your computers.
FRIDAY - FINISH YOUR PROJECTS & JOURNALS
1. Show me what you have accomplished with the challenge this week. Get your photo taken.
2. Take your robot apart and put all the pieces away where they belong. Return your tote and then get your journal. Complete the last section, Improve, of your journal.
