MONDAY - ENGINEERING DESIGN PLAN
Students- I can create an engineering design plan for my challenge.
1. Practice your typing by completing these 3 sentences.
2. Solve the puzzle.

3. Your Challenge for this week: To build a racing chariot out of Knext, that can safely carry a passenger, foam block, and be driven remotely by a horse, Sphero robot ball.
In your journals you will fill out the Challenge sheets as shown below.
Blue text you can copy. Red text you write your own sentences, but answer the questions as you do.

4. If we still have time, start building your chariot. Remember: It must have 2 wheels. Carry a passenger, but cannot attach or pinch the passenger. Passenger must be able to get in and out easily. Not caged in.
5. Put your totes with your journals in the back cabinet. Log off your computers and get ready to line up.
TUESDAY - BUILDING YOUR CHARIOTS
Students - I can build and follow my plan.
Students - I can build and follow my plan.
1.Type these 3 sentences as fast as you can without looking at the keys. What is your WPM?
2. Each group can have a tote to keep their Knex parts and journal safe. If your journal is complete from yesterday, you may get a tote and begin building. You can move to your seat, or build at the large tables.
Chariot Guidelines:
Must have 2 wheels
The Robot ball must in in the front and pull the chariot behind.
The passenger must be able to be placed in the seat and removed, cannot be in a "cage" or pinched or held in place by anything.
Passenger cannot fall out during racing.
Bumping into other chariots is legal and will happen even if you are not trying so be prepared.

3. Your journal must have a completed plan and a sketch before you can test out your chariot.
After you test it, record how it worked. What will you change to try and make it better?
Watch the video if you do not know how to connect to the Sphero Robot.
4. After you have tested your chariot, you must open your journal and write in the IMPROVE section. How did it work. What would you like to change to make it better. Please document this before you do any more building.
You may continue to do tests and improve upon your chariot.
5. Please put everything away. Totes and journals in the back cabinet. Sphero balls back in the charging case.
Log off and get ready to leave.

WEDNESDAY - TESTING AND IMPROVING
I can test and improve my chariot.
1. Type the 3 sentences without looking at the keys if you can.
2. Test your chariot and record how it works. What changes will you try? Does your passenger stay in or does it fall out when you crash? Record this in your journals.
Practice driving your chariot. We will clear out a bigger area for racing if most groups are finished.
3. If you are finished, and do not want to practice driving anymore, please help to build the roller coaster track that has been started. Ask Mrs. Masterson and she will show you the part that has been completed.
4. Please put everything away. Totes and journals in the back cabinet. Sphero balls back in the charging case.
Log off and get ready to leave.
THURSDAY - RACING DAY
I will show good sportsmanship when competing.
1. Type the 3 sentences, do not look at the keys, please!
2. Everyone can drive in the race if you want, but you do not have to. We will have 6 race at a time. The top 2 can race again until we get to the finals. This is just for fun, so please keep it fun.
Watch the video about being a Good Sport.
3. After the racing is completed, we will be taking our chariots apart. If you still feel like building, you can add parts to the roller coaster track we are building.
4. Please log off and get ready to line up.
FRIDAY - FUN FRIDAY WHEN FINISHED
