5-2 SPIKE DELIVERY CART

MONDAY - NEW SPIKE PRIME KITS
I can start a new journal entry.

1.  Typing Club
2. Challenge for the week. Please get your journal. Watch the video and write down the challenge for this week.

3. When your journal is complete, turn it in to the basket. You may begin the tutorial of Spike Prime. The kits are located in the front cabinet.

You will partner up like this. Seats 1 & 2 are partners. Seats 3 & 4 are partners. If there is a person sitting next to you, then they are your partner for this activity.

Put kits away when instructed. Today you will plug in the hub to charge over night. If you do not have a long white cord, it is probably at the charging station already.

4. Log off and wait to line up.

TUESDAY - SPIKE PRIME
I can learn how to use Spike Prime.

1. You will partner up like this. Seats 1 & 2 are partners. Seats 3 & 4 are partners. If there is a person sitting next to you, then they are your partner for this activity.

Kits are located in the front closets on the right BOTTOM. Make sure you get a PRIME KIT and not an ESSENTIAL KIT. Do ALL of the intro lessons. Explore and go above and beyond the basics. Really learn the tools. Test the program.

Watch the video below to know how to get started.

2. If you finished all 6 tutorials. See if you can complete these mini challenges: Start a NEW Project to try these.

A. Can you make the hub see red and then make a smiley face, but when it sees blue, it makes a sad face?
B. When the distance sensor is 10 centimeters from your hand it barks like a dog and turns on a motor.

3. Typing Club.
4. Log off the computers. Line up when instructed.

WEDNESDAY - RHINO BODY ONLY!
I can follow a program to build a moving robot.

1. In the Spike program you are going to build the Rhino Body only.

After building the body, return to Home on the program and click on New Project. Be sure to name your project and save it to the desktop.

Use this program to learn how to make your robot drive and move around the table.

Goals for today:

Drive straight forward and backwards.

Know how far 1 and 2 rotations measure.

Turn the robot 90 degrees right.

Turn the robot 90 degrees left.

2. Keep your cart built. It can be stored at the charging station. Please return your totes. Check the floors for missing pieces.

3. Typing Club.

4. Log off the computers. Line up when instructed.

THURSDAY - SPIKE DELIVERY CART CHALLENGE
I can write a program to deliver goods to a business.

1. Update your journal with your plan for solving the maze challenge. Sketch a picture of the table maze you need to solve and explain what coding you will try to create. Also, how will you carry the cargo so it does not fall off.

2. Create the program and you get 1 try to see if you did it. Then write into your journal if you solved the challenge or not. What do you need to do to fix it? Record that and try again. I want details about the challenge, not about how hard you worked or will work next time.

3. Time to clean up. Keep your cart/rhino at the charging station. Only plug in your robot if it needs it. Over charging a battery is not good for it.

Return your totes.

4. Log off the computers. Line up when instructed.

FRIDAY - FINISH YOUR PROJECTS & JOURNALS
1. Continue with the cart delivery challenge. When your team has a solution, raise your hand to share it with the teacher. Be sure to have me take your photos today. Done or not.

2. Time to clean up. ALL pieces must be taken apart and returned to the tote in the correct places.

3.  If you did finish early, then you may have some free time on pmasterson.net.

4. Log off the computers. Line up when instructed.
