MONDAY - ENGINEERING DESIGN PROCESS REVIEW

TUESDAY - WRITTEN CHALLENGE
1. Solve the puzzle below.
2. You are to use the Engineering Design Process to complete the written challenge. This is also part of your assessment for this year. You need to do your best. This should take you several minutes (20) to complete.
You may write on the back of the sheet if you do not have enough room. A picture drawing should be included with labels.

WEDNESDAY - BUILDING TEAM CHALLENGE
1. Why would you ever need to suspend a container or bag up off the ground?
2. Bucket Tower Challenge
1. Your goal is to create a structure from which a bucket will hang. the bucket must hold weight. (pennies)
2. You may only use the supplies provided. You may also use scissors and rulers. Supplies are not replenished.
3. The structure can be secured to the cardboard - so we can move it.
4. The bucket must swing freely from the structure. If cannot be restrained or rest on a part of the structure.
5. The bucket must be at least 3 inches above the cardboard.
6. The structure or tower does not have a height requirement.
7. You will test the structure with pennies and then have an opportunity to make improvements based on the outcome. (if time permits)
8. A structure is considered compromised when the bucket lowers within 1 inch of the cardboard base or begins leaning excessively.
9. A final presentation will be held during which you will share your structure/tower and results.
3. You are to use your journals to record this challenge and make your plans with your group. There is only one tower to be build per tote.
If you do not finish today, we will have some time tomorrow to finish. Raise your hand when you are ready to test the weight.
THURSDAY - FINAL ASSESSMENT - ONLINE
1. Complete the building challenge from yesterday. When you are finished, return to your seat. We will test them when all groups are ready or I call time.
